We’ve got something fun, y’all.  The Democratic Party of Henderson Co is sponsoring A POTLUCK PARTY !
June 19th commemorates a great turning point in our history when slavery was officially abolished in the United States.
We still have a LONG way to go to pronounce equality for every person.
But, THIS June 19th, we will gather in Jackson Park to acknowledge our commitment to diversity by celebrating Juneteenth. Doug and I have secured a pavilion – NUMBER 4 — with 2 grilles and restrooms.
There will be music, candidates, elected officials and more. A PA system has been offered for those who would like to ‘say something’, as time allows.
Our cuisine for the day will be – what we call in the South – “Soul Food”.
We still are lacking some vital items like: BBQ, Corn on the cob, Greens, Beans, etc. AND RED VELVET CAKE !! We also need disp. bowls for greens, dessert, etc. How about a bunch of deviled eggs, Steamed Cabbage, Green Bean Casserole. You get the picture.
PUT June 19th on your calendar! And bring something GOOOOOD !

We HAVE   Ribs, Grilled Pork Loins Sweeet Potatoes, Beans X2, Greens Iced Red Zinger Tea Cobbler Ice / Waters We NEED   BBQ  –  Chicken !   LOTS Cole Slaw  –  Pot Salad, etc. Cornbread! * Watermelon! Black Tea in gallon jugs More Ice / Waters

“So throw something in your crock pot or grab something for the grille and let’s dance!  We can make this happen!”
We gather to acknowledge our commitment to diversity and our commitment to freedom and equality for all. We would like to have volunteers… if you can -> contact Betty Lou at . Bring something to share or grill (there are two for those who want to grill); traditional things to bring & share: tea, ice, Ribs, BBQ, corn on the cob, beans’n’rice, cornbread, velvet cake, strawberry pie… You know, the GOOD stuff. Betty Lou & Doug are bringing locally grown greens in a big crock pot… and a sign saying “HCDP JUNETEENTH”  —  Lots of electrical outlets.  Setting up noonish (pavilion reserved all day).

BEFORE and ON YOUR WAY to Jackson Park stop by at 650 Maple Street!
