Are you a Democrat running for office in Western North Carolina?

Do you want to raise enough money to run an effective, competitive campaign?

The Henderson County Democratic Party will host a FREE workshop for candidates on Saturday, May 16, 2026, with Steve Carlisle, former professional actor, and Bruce Macdonald, attorney for the HCDP.

When: May 16, 2026, 2 - 4 p.m.

Where: HCDP Office, 2024F Asheville Highway, Hendersonville NC

Free but space is limited.

A well-known politician once said, “Money is the mother’s milk of politics.” It is the rare candidate who can run - and win - without it. But why do politicians hate to ask for money, even from potential donors who would likely be happy to support them financially?

During this 2-hour workshop, we will explore the world of campaign fundraising, with particular emphasis on:

  • Strategic prospecting and outreach,

  • Overcoming the “ask” anxiety,

  • Following up and further cultivation of donors.

The workshop encourages active participation, with attendees assuming the roles of candidate and donor in various fundraising scenarios. The goal of this workshop is to make you a more effective fundraiser for the – and future – campaigns.
