'All eyes are on Henderson County'
Anderson Clayton, state chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party, riled up the crowd today at HCDP's Morning Momentum breakfast meeting.
"All eyes are on Henderson County," she said, because the efforts in this county to connect with voters are going to pay off for Democratic candidates. "Henderson County is going to send Jamie Ager to Congress," she added.
Clayton spoke about how the Democratic party in North Carolina is playing what she calls the long game. "The work we do now will set the stage for a Democratic congressional majority in 2032 and 2036."
Clayton encouraged everyone to knock doors, talk to neighbors about voting differently this time, and continuing to build our coalition. "We've got a place for everyone at this table, " she added.
HCDP volunteers have knocked on close to 10,000 doors and made more than 12,000 phone calls this election season, reported Linda Ford, HCDP chair. And the work continues through election day. (See our canvass schedule here.)
This month's Morning Momentum was held at Blue Ridge Community College. About 90 people came to listen to Clayton, who is the youngest state Democratic party chair in the nation.
