I don't know who's running. Why bother to vote?
Your vote counts! Every election determines the future of our county, state and nation. If you want a voice in that future, vote!
Where do I register?
During early voting (Oct. 15 - 31), you can register at the polls. Or get a form at the County Board of Elections office; you can call them, stop by, or go online.

Do I need a photo ID to register and to vote?
Yes! Valid ID include NC driver's license, student photo ID, passport and others. See the list Voter ID | NCSBE.

Can I get a mail-in ballot?
Yes, be sure to request one before Oct. 20, follow all instructions carefully and mail it back right away. You can track that your ballot has been received. Request a ballot.
When can I vote?
Early voting is Oct. 15 - 31. Polling places and times
Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Where do I vote?
For early voting, there are four locations in Henderson County:
Board of Elections, 75 E Central St, Hendersonville
Fletcher Town Hall, 300 Old Cane Creek Rd, Fletcher
Etowah Library, 101 Brickyard Rd, Etowah

Is early voting the best way to vote?
We suggest that you vote early if you can. With more days available, it's easier to fit into your schedule.
Do I need to vote the entire ballot?
You don't have to, but we encourage you to. Sometimes, the issues that impact us the most are at the end of the ballot. This year, three constitutional amendments and a bond proposal are at the end. You do not have to vote for every office, say, if there is only one person running. Or, if there are five people running and you can vote for three, you can vote for one, two OR three people.
Do I have to sign my ballot?
No! Your vote is private. Even though voters and ballots are tracked, they are not linked. Your ballot is not associated with your name. (Ballots are tracked to control the possibility of fraud. Poll officials count how many are given to voters and how many are returned. If there is a discrepancy, they investigate. This seldom happens.)
Amendments? What are those all about?
There are three consitutional amendments and one bond proposal on the ballot. One is to require that all voters show a photo ID when they vote. This is already a law in North Carolina, so opponets say it is not necessary and could supress voting and make it more difficult for military, senior and other voters. A second seeks to limit personal income tax and the third proposes a limit on property taxes. Both of these amendments could have negative impacts on services provided by the state and counties, as they would reduce the amount of money available. The bond proposal is to fund the preservation of farmland and open space. The Democratic Party recommends voting AGAINST all amendments and YES on the bond proposal. Read more.
