'I don't think about anybody'

You’ve heard the quote or have heard about it. Pres. Trump said, “I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation, I don’t think about anybody” when talking about making decisions.

He doesn't think about the family that can’t afford food.

He doesn't think about the Veteran with reduced access to healthcare.

He doesn't think about your grocery bill. Or gasoline bill. Or power bill.

“Trump just admitted what we’ve known all along,” Representative Adriano Espaillait, D-NY, said. “He does not care that Americans can’t afford to live.”

What does he think about? Himself. Mostly, maintaining his power.

  • That’s why he is pushing to restrict our right to vote.

  • That’s why he supports rigging maps and the courts.

  • That’s why he goes after anyone who opposes him, legally or not, and threatens the media.

And he thinks about money. His money, his wealth. He and his family have made billions of dollars. Crypto, licensing fees, gold telephones, meme coins.

WE DESERVE BETTER. We deserve leaders who think about us first.

How? It starts here, at the local and state levels.

Our US Congressman, Chuck Edwards, should be thinking about us when he:

  • Doesn’t deliver the promised Hurricane Helene relief funds.

  • Supports suppressing free speech.

  • Stays in lockstep with Trump.

Our state Supreme Court justices need to think about us when they:

  • Allow gerrymandering and voter suppression;

  • Refuse to give money to our schools;

  • Attempt to silence the only minority member of the court;

  • Allow conflicts of interest at a level seldom seen in courts. (See Fair Judges NC for info on both of these.)

Our NC General Assembly members should think about us before they:

  • Give Duke Energy a blank check plus a rate increase;

  • Take away our communities’ control over property tax and zoning;

  • Support voter suppression and gerrymandering;

  • Allocate $600+ million for school vouchers – supporting a fraction of our kids – while neglecting public schools;

  • Fail to pass a budget for 10+ months.

The Republicans in power don’t think about us any more than Trump does. It’s time to end their power monopoly in North Carolina.

Vote for people who will think about us before they make decisions that impact us.

Here’s the list of Democrats running for office in November. And when you vote, be sure to vote the entire ballot – the important judicial and school board races are usually last on the ballot.

Weekend Joe
