Juneteenth is not just a celebration — it’s a call to remember, to honor, and to act.
On June 19, 1865, freedom finally reached the last enslaved Black Americans in Texas — over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder that freedom in this country has always been hard-won, and that the fight for true equality continues.
As Democrats in Henderson County, we know that remembering history is only the beginning. We must also work to dismantle the systems of injustice that still linger today — in our laws, in our institutions, and in our communities.
Today, we celebrate progress.
Tomorrow, we keep working.
Always, we stand on the side of justice.
