Sharing the News: PERSIST sponsoring Jan 3rd rally to remember 2021 insurrection

HCDP is happy to share information about a JAN 3rd rally organized by PERSIST of Henderson County in remembrance of the insurrection of January 6, 2021, and the ongoing assaults to our democracy. Along with the organizers, we remind attendees to practice non-violence and peaceful protest in keeping with our values and to serve as a stark contrast to the insurrectionists' actions. HCDP steadfastly condemns violence of any kind.

Join PERSIST of Henderson County for a fifth anniversary remembrance and reflection of that day on January 6, 2021, as we stand up against political violence and remember the lives lost when a mob of Trump supporters--egged on by Trump’s grievance of a “stolen” election--stormed the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC, two months after his defeat in the 2020 presidential election. It was a day that threatened our Constitution and our political tradition of a peaceful transfer of power. In the end there were multiple deaths; injuries, including to 174 police officers; and an estimated $2.7 million in damage.
