FEBRUARY 10th is the date for the next Coffee Break! Held at our new office, this is a chance to grow our community, brainstorm, and keep up to date. HCDP's Coffee Break is the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

As the ongoing tragedy in Minnesota continues to horrify the world, please read the official statement from HCDP leadership and learn about a community vigil sponsored by PERSIST of Henderson County to remember and honor Alex Pretti and the other innocent lives taken by the unlawful actions of ICE. Please consider taking action by contacting your elected officials and encouraging someone to vote. Most of all, do not lose hope or give up on our democracy.

If you've been looking for a way to help during the national crisis we're all facing, here's a great opportunity. We need greeters and observers for the upcoming NC Primary in which Democrats and unaffiliated voters will help choose the best candidates to run against MAGA-backed Republicans. The Primary is also a fantastic time to make sure we have strong systems in place for the midterms this fall. We need to have all hands on deck to ensure a fair and peaceful election.

HCDP's new events for 2026 kick off this week, with Coffee Break on Tuesday Jan. 13th at 9:30 am at the office *AND* Happy Hour on Thursday Jan 15th at Mills River Brewing, starting at 6 pm. We hope to see you at one or both of these! They're a great opportunity to meet people, learn what's going on, and build community.
